The 72nd annual Golden Globes arrived again last night. After 12 years of filming, ‘Boyhood’ stole the spotlight by winning both the Best Motion Picture (Drama) award and Best Director, Brit Eddie Redmayne won Best Actor (Drama) and Joanne Froggatt swept up Best Supporting Actress for her role in Downton Abbey. So all in all it was an eventful night… but not just for the awards!
The Golden Globes is a international event in the fashion world. Who wore what? Who sparkled? Who shone? Who had the brightest gown? Who stood out from the rest of the glittering globe guests?
We complied our own top 5 best dressed below.
Allison Williams wore an Armani Privè gown. Despite there being a noticeable number of ladies in red, this dress really caught our eye because of the gradual layering effect which gave the dress a softer shape. Mixed with classy red sparkles, this dress is a winner this year.
Julianne Moore, who wore a Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci gown, won the Best Actress (Drama). This silver sequinned number combines ombre colouring, a fishtail effect and a feathered lower skirt. The mix of these three components made this dress shimmering showstopper.
Kerry Washington brought colour into the night by wearing a gown by Mary Katrantzou. We love the unusual texture mixed with the classic neckline of the dress. This dress was unlike anything else worn last night!
As usual, Lupita Nyong’o’s red carpet style failed to disappoint. She chose a gown by Giambattista Valli and we love the hope of spring it brings. The purple flowers turning to white is absolutely beautiful – we could not leave it out of our top 5!
Sienna Miller dazzled everyone in this Miu Miu dress. We adore the ivory silk and delicate embroidery. Not the conventional choice for a red carpet perhaps, but a definite eye-catcher and hence it is our final dress in the top 5.
