Stella McCartney at Paris Fashion Week
Stella McCartney, arguably one of Britain’s most famous designers, showcased her new AW16 collection in Paris this week. It was an assembly of her most popular pieces, the ones that have been purchased time and time again. It was a summary of her as a designer, with signature evening slips and oversized simple knitwear playing a prominent part. Like with all of Stella’s shows it also focused on sustainability, even the backing track’s lyrics asked questions of ethics.
The clothes themselves were so very Stella and many could be worn both day and night, without a need to change. Clothing such as quilted bomber jackets and the use of distressed denim ensured that McCartney’s collection also fitted well with the streetwear vibe of the season.
This kind of slip dress ( above ) is almost an iconic garment for McCartney now, it is pieces like these mixed with items such as the denim jacket below that ensure even woman is catered for.
This show was truly a celebration of what it means to be a Stella girl, and with the McCartney brand branching out into menswear very soon, this ‘celebration’ collection could not have been at a more perfect time. Bravo Stella!
