New York Fashion Week: Tom Ford
Fashion season has begun! Last night, Tom Ford returned to New York Fashion Week in style with a celebrity filled catwalk. From the likes of Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Joan Smalls modelling his SS18 collection to Julianne Moore, Cindy Crawford and Chaka Khan filling the front rows, this was an evening not to be missed. The show was divided into day wear and evening wear, all presented to a backing track of Rihanna, The Killers and Beyonce combined.
Tom Ford, designer – director – film producer, is known for his dramatic and bold collections. Ford has ‘never been one to shy away from controversy’ (Vogue) and this collection was no different. From bold shades of magenta pink, exaggerated shoulders, low slung trousers and sometimes no trousers at all, this SS18 collection will surely be a high influence for next season’s trends.
It’s pink and it’s perfect
Ford’s colour pallete for this season mixes typical feminine shades with more masculine silhouettes. His use statement use of pink intertwined with more peachy tones makes it a key colour trend to look out for in SS18.
All about the legs…
Ford places emphasis on power dressing for the modern woman, this season it was the trousers, or lack of, that made a mark. Ford paired low slung, belted leather trousers with high legged bodysuits for the ultimate, seemingly effortless, statement look.
However, Ford also brought out mini, mini dresses which were dip dyed in varying neon colours bringing even more attention to the scandalous hemline.
As if the bold shoulders, neon colouring and lack of trousers wasn’t enough, Ford made everything a bit shinier with his use of metalics. From entire silver space suits to purple bomber jackets. Ford brought the party to New York Fashion Week.
