The Golden Globes 2017

Yesterday was the night of the famous Golden Globes, a much anticipated event in the fashion world. The Golden Globes showcased the most gorgeous red carpet gowns. Favourite styles included bright yellow gowns (as inspired by Emma Stone’s dress in the award winning film La La Land), sequin extravaganzas and magical fairy tale creations. It was a record breaking night – 7 separate awards, including best actor and actress, were given to La La Land. Meryl Streep’s acceptance speech of the┬áCecil B DeMille Award for her lifetime contribution to film was full of her political thoughts – directed at the president elect Donald Trump, ‘attacking the president-elect’s attitude towards minorities and those who are different from him’ (Vogue).

Below are our favourite five gowns from the night.

Emma Stone in Valentino. The star of the night wore a more than appropriate gown for the occasion – the Valentino creation captured the magical nature of the film and the star of the screen also.

Ruth Negga in Lois Vuitton. We love the completely sequined dress here - the zip and molding shape modernises the red carpet look.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Vera Wang. Sarah channeled her inner fair tale ideal for the evening. We love the simplicity of the white gown. The black belt ensures it is not bridal.
