Chanel does Show Stopping at Paris Fashion Week
The Chanel Show has definitely been the talk of the town this Paris fashion week. Although there have been mixed reviews on the dirndl dresses (which apparently had the knack of making even the racehorses among us look like we’d put on a few pounds) and the handbags were definitely not to everyone’s taste, all agree that Chanel put on a show to remember and there was not a straight face in the house. With a set which took months to build, (a reconstruction of Hameau de la Reine, Marie Antoinette’s play farm at Versailles), the saucy show had a naughtily playful ‘Carry On’ feel to it culminating in a finale of 3 models romping in a hay bale. Of course, the most memorable part was Lily Allen’s performance as she burst through a trap door, looking stunning in Chanel, singing her latest single ‘Not Fair’ whilst models appeared through hay bales and paraded around her.
Aside from the dirndls, Lagerfeld mixed and matched his fabrics putting rough looking tweed jackets with soft tailored trousers, he created some playfully saucy milkmaid looks as well as some floaty chiffon dresses in pretty pale tones teamed with clogs and classic black dresses. There were also some fabulous shoes.
