Angelina Jolie in Talks for Gucci Movie
According to Variety, Angelina Jolie is in talks with Ridley Scott to play femmes fatale Patrizia Reggiani, Maurizio Gucci’s widow in an upcoming movie about the Gucci fashion empire. Also, although currently unconfirmed, Leonardo DiCaprio has been approached to play the fashion mogul Maurizio Gucci. Although she claimed she was being blackmailed by her psychic and therefore involved against her will, Patrizia was jailed for 29 years in 1999 for contracting Gucci’s murder. Due to in-house famous squabbles between family members and boardroom fights between brothers when Paulo Gucci was knocked unconscious by an answerphone machine; not to mention him then reporting his own father Aldo, then head of the company, for tax evasion of more than $7.4 million, the outrageous magazine headlines generated as much publicity as the label itself. Finally, with Tom Ford at the helm, the fashion house was in line for a much needed revival when sadly, in 1995, Maurizio Gucci was gunned down outside his Milan apartment. Although Ridley Scott is currently looking for a script writer, the film is set to start shooting next year. All being well, this looks set to be a high quality, dynasty-esque drama of epic proportions. No doubt the costumes will be amazing too.
