2014: A Year in Fashion

The end of 2014 is approaching fast. What have we learnt? What have we seen? What shocked us? What saddened us?  What inspired us? What thrilled us to pieces?

Below is a calendar of 2014’s key events in the fashion world.

January

It was the month in which… The 56th Grammy award ceremony started the year in sweet style raising the bar for future events to follow. Highlights included Beyonce’s white Michael Costello gown, Pink’s radical red number and Katy Perry’s musical note Valentino creation.

March

It was the month in which… the fashion world lost one of it’s most respected designers L’Wren Scott (Laura Bambrough). Famous for her little black dresses including the iconic headmistress dress (worn by the likes of Madonna and Sarah Jessica Parker) and her successful collaborations with brands such as Lancome and Banana Republic . This model, fashion designer, costume designer and global inspiration is sorely missed.

Later in April, she became the face of Miu Miu’s eyewear campaign. A very successful month for the global actress. This success has continued all year- lets hope it carries on to 2015 too!

November

It was the month in which…. H&M launched their range with Alexander Wang – one of our favorite collaborations of the year.  The chic and sport collection emphasized the trend of  ‘Athleisure’ (when designer sportswear is worn not just for exercise!). Think bold, beautiful and brilliant. Great for a ‘New Year, New You’ mindset.

Famous for its signature loafers which sell for up to £4,000, the brand announced last year its slowest growth in sales as a result of lower spending in the Chinese and Russian markets.
